Good event, minor issues

I recently ran the Lakeland Trails in Keswick. The course was beautiful, really scenic, and the organization on race day itself was pretty smooth. Getting my race number was easy, and the aid stations were well-stocked. My main gripe was with the registration process online; it felt a bit clunky and I had trouble applying a discount code I had. Took a couple of tries to get it to go through. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd consider another event, but they could probably streamline the website a bit.

Fast registration, great race

Signed up for the Langdale Half Marathon. Entry was quick. The event was well-marked. Finisher medal was nice. Good day out.

Enjoyable Coniston Trail, good value

I participated in the Lakeland Trails Coniston 10k last autumn and had a great time. The views around the lake were fantastic, and the trail was challenging but manageable for my fitness level. Registration was straightforward online, and I received my race number in the mail about two weeks before the event, which was helpful for planning. On race day, parking was a bit congested, even with an event parking pass, but we eventually found a spot. The chip timing worked perfectly, and I got my results quickly afterward. I also bought one of their technical t-shirts when I signed up; it's decent quality, though it runs a little small. Overall, for the price of entry, it felt like good value for a well-organized trail race in a stunning location. Would definitely do another Lakeland Trails event.

Is there a bag drop at these events? Don't want to leave my stuff in the car if it's miles away from the start.

D Daisy N. 2 weeks ago
Most of the bigger ones have a bag drop in the event village, yeah. Usually pretty well organized.

Yep, every Lakeland Trails event I've done has had a bag drop. It's usually a tent or designated area near registration.

How do Lakeland Trails compare to Maverick Race events? Looking for something similar but maybe a bit less intense.

J Josh 1 month ago
Lakeland Trails are generally a bit more established and have a slightly more 'community' feel, I'd say. Maverick can sometimes feel a bit more focused on the hardcore trail runner, though they have easier options too. Courses are usually beautiful for both.

Maverick often feels a bit more rugged, whereas Lakeland Trails tend to be a bit more scenic and accessible for a wider range of abilities. Both are fantastic though.

Thinking of signing up for a few races next year. Do they offer any kind of discount if you book a 'season pass' or a few at once?

L Laura B. 1 month ago
They do a 'series entry' discount, which is basically a season pass. It usually works out cheaper than booking each one individually if you plan on doing a few.

Yeah, the series entry is a thing. It's usually advertised when entries open for the next year's events.

Anyone done the Langdale Christmas Pudding 10k? Thinking of it but wondering if it's super competitive or more of a fun run vibe.

N Noor A. 1 month ago
It's a mix! Definitely competitive at the front, but tons of people do it for the fun and festive atmosphere. Plus, pudding!

More fun, honestly. It's a popular one, lots of fancy dress sometimes. Still a good run though, not just a walk.

Does anyone know if they do student discounts for these races? My uni club is thinking of doing one.

C Chris Reyes 3 weeks ago
I think they do, but it might be tied to specific running clubs or partnerships. Best to check their site or maybe ask your club captain if they have a code.

Yeah, some clubs get codes. I've also seen blue light discounts sometimes, so worth looking if you qualify for that too.
